down under

i'm finally out of asia!! hee. in perth now to pei sis before she starts school at UWA. it's freezing cold here, especially with the wind and all. everything is really quite different here compared to singapore.

1. There is much more green stuff here. The surroundings are all so pretty! I've seen fields, lakes, ponds, rivers, stars and rainbows! And its only been 2 days!

2. the houses here are HUGE! dun think i will be able to afford one like these in singapore, not even if i work hard for like... 20 years? but here its like, everyone owns one HUGE house that is nicely renovated and every family has a car. but the car part is understandable, cause the place is really big and it takes quite some time to get anywhere. the nearest store from bao's homestay house is about 15 min away. so different from our mama shops. but was kind of prepared for this before i came.

3. the sky here turns dark very early. although i have heard this before, but didnt think that it would be this dark. we were on the bus home at around 6 yesterday. and the road was totally dark cause there arent many street lights and the houses dun switch on alot of lights cause they have some energy saving thing in addition to the explosion or something at the power station.

4. the things here are so expensive. esp food. not supermarket food but ready food you buy from stores. me and bao had chicken chop and some beef at a food court-ish place yesterday and it was $20 aus, which is like $26 sgd. crazy. but supermarket food is ok. not say cheap, its like the same price as singapore, just that you have to multiple it with the exchange rate. but the beef here is cheaper than sg's. but eggs and chicken is expensive.

5. the people here are all so nice and friendly. even the bus driver greets everyone that boards the bus and says bye to everyone too. sooooo unlike the bus uncles in sg. its like everyone greets you and thanks you. the sales people here are also very polite and friendly. not like those salesgirls/cashiers in sg (some of them look like we owe them money and give black face).
